Who we are
The Abaca Group was born from a singular vision: that true hospitality is both an art and a commitment. In 2006, industry pioneers Chef Jason and Anna Hyatt, in collaboration with internationally recognized business leader Marc Compagnon, brought that vision to life with the opening of the acclaimed Abaca Boutique Resort in Mactan, Cebu. What began as a single destination has since grown into a celebrated collection of restaurants, cafés, catering services, and hotels—recognized across the Philippines and beyond.
What sets us apart is not just scale, but soul. Every concept we create reflects our passion for craftsmanship, our belief in exceptional service, and our drive to elevate the everyday. Today, The Abaca Group operates more than 35 locations and employs nearly 700 dedicated professionals. From luxury resorts to award-winning food brands, we are building a legacy of hospitality that is authentic, ambitious, and unwavering in its pursuit of excellence.
Now under the leadership of Chefs Patrick Corpuz and Jason Hyatt, The Abaca Group is charting an exciting new chapter—expanding to Manila with thoughtfully crafted restaurant concepts and future hotel projects. This next phase of growth brings the brand’s signature warmth and excellence to the country’s capital, continuing its mission to redefine Filipino hospitality on a broader stage.

Jason Hyatt

about
Jason has worked in the food and beverage industry around the globe for close to 30 years. He was the Group Executive Chef of Lan Kwai Fong Entertainments where he opened restaurants, bars, and clubs, contributing to Hong Kong’s vibrant entertainment district from 1999 to 2005. Previously, Jason served as a Chef in Wolfgang Puck’s group of restaurants in Los Angeles. He has worked and apprenticed in various award-winning restaurants and hotels around the world, including Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York, Quito, Mexico City, and the Michelin-rated, L ’Oustau de Baumaniére in Provence, France. Jason holds a degree in Culinary Arts from the New England Culinary Institute. He splits his time between Cebu, Philippines, and Sydney, Australia.

Marc Compagnon

Marc Compagnon has served as the President of Centric Brands LLC., Asia, since March 2022. In this role, he leads sourcing strategy and infrastructure in the Asia region. Mr. Compagnon was the Senior Advisor of Fung Group since January 2019. He was formerly the Group President and Executive Director of Li & Fung (Trading) Ltd (2014-2019). He joined Li & Fung in 2000 at the time of the acquisition of Colby International Limited, where he was a partner and Chief Merchandising Officer for 17 years, responsible for establishing Colby’s global sourcing network and sales and marketing strategies.
Mr. Compagnon is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Grossman School of Business at The University of Vermont and a founding member of Cotton’s Revolutions. He is also a non-executive chairman of The Abaca Group, Inc. (Cebu), a hotel and restaurant management group, and a non-executive chairman of Blu Bathworks, a contemporary bathroom brand. Mr. Compagnon holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont.

Anna Hyatt

about
Born in Seoul and raised in Sydney with stints in Tokyo and Hong Kong, Anna has built a career focusing on sales, marketing, and hospitality. She was Marketing Manager for the boutique hospitality group Lan Kwai Fong Entertainments in Hong Kong, her focus was exposing the group to the Korean and Japanese markets. Before that, she was in VIP guest relations with international hospitality giant The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Hong Kong. She carries varied experiences within the fashion industry including a role as operations manager for a major fashion conglomerate in Tokyo. Anna, with her global perspective, continues to play a vital role in the overall branding of The Abacá Group. She splits her time between Cebu, Philippines, and Sydney, Australia.

Patrick Corpuz

about
Since joining the Abacá Group in 2015, Patrick has been instrumental in growing the Abacá brand to the forefront of food, beverage, and hospitality services in the region. Previously, he served as the Corporate Executive Chef of Pancake House Group and Max’s Group Inc. following their acquisition. Patrick’s dedication to excellence began early in his career as a Culinary Lead and was further enriched by a rare opportunity to work as a stagiaire at Gaggan, one of the world’s finest restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. He is currently in the process of completing his Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from the Asian Institute of Management, further enhancing his leadership in the hospitality industry.
